| Show PRODUCE MAEKET No improvement has been noticeable during the past week business is reported not so brisk as heretofore All lines are quiet and in some cases dull Money indicates indi-cates little change if any and there is a tendency towards more confidence and more cash seems to be available Contractors are looking around to make preparations for early commencement of business As soon as spring opens with the large amount of unemployed labor in the city it would seem to indicate that early contractors will get much cheaper work than later on in the season The receipts re-ceipts for the last week have been somewhat some-what larger than heretofore a large amount of goods are coming in from tho eastern states and prices nave declined considerably Oranges have been very plentiful in the market and sales in this lino have been somewhat brisk Potatoes are beginning to arrive in Salt Lake city in carlots from the country from which there is a fair business Poultry receipts continue inadequate for the demand and at times the market has been almost bare Butter receipts have been plentiful with a good demand for a choice article and less demands for low grade Grain receipts have been light but equal to the demand and prices continuing firm Hay continues Very dull with large offerings and very small sales this article still continues to be a drug on the market OFFERINGS WheatThIs article is in excess of demand de-mand millers are well stocked up and as yet the railroads have not conceded anything any-thing in the matter of lowering the ratesto consuming points hence no exportation has commenced We hope they will be able to do so as it will bring a large amount of money into the territory and save carrying ovor a large stock of this grain Corn This article has a very light do mand most of the dealers are fairly stocked up with very little outside shipments ship-ments coming in or going out of the territory terri-tory Oato Prices still continue firm with a supply equal to demand Several oars I were sold in the city during the past week at the regular prices at 8175 per cwt Hay The market is overstocked and the dealers are all loaded up Our mild winter has made sales light and a large amount is being carried over The storms of the past week will stop country dealers from hauling into the market hence dealers anticipate ticipate some sales during this coming week prices on this article have a strong kownward tendency PoultryThe offerings on dressed poultry poul-try have been extremely light during the past week Some days the market was entirely bare Shippers would have netted net-ted good round figures on all stocks sent into the market during the past week and we feel confident that the market will continue con-tinue firm for some little time to come Dressed chickens are bommanding in this market from 13 to 15 cents per pound and dressed turkeys from 17 to 20 cents Country Coun-try merchants would do well to send in their surplus stocks while the market is good and firm VegetablesPotatoes in car lots are beginning be-ginning to come into the market and are selling sacked for 75c per bushel Cabbage is arriving plentifully from California and selling at 2Mc per pound Onions are very scarce and wo hear today of one retail store asking lOc per pound for this article Cauliflower and green peas are arriving from Los Angeles in small quantities but the demand is good Eggs are very plentiful plenti-ful several large consignments having arrived ar-rived from Kansas and Nebraska Prices dropped during the past week from 8 to 750 and dealers anticipate lling Kansas stook during the coming week at 7 per case and asking 750 forUtahsSalt Lalio Price Current |
