Show A Surprise Party f The good people of the Sixteenth Ward remembering that the 20th of January was Bishop Kealers 71st birthday birth-day anniversary decided to give him a surprise They accordingly assembled quietly in the large room ot their schoolhouse while the Bishop wits engaged en-gaged with a meeting in the upper I room At the conclusion of the meeting meet-ing they intercepted him as he was leaving the house and escorted him to the large and ncely decorated schoolroom school-room where after a short and pleasant programme of songs and dances Mr Francis Cope in behalf of the ward presented the Bishop with a fine gold headed cane The cane was inscribed Presented to Bishop F Kesler by the Sixteenth Ward January 20 1887 The Bishop feelingly expressed his thanks and acknowledged tnat he was fairly surprised The room was now prepared for dancing and those who had assembled enjoyed themselves fully threading the mazes of the dance to the strains of Beezleys quadrille band |
