Show THE EVENT AT PROVO The Chamber of Commerce Ball Proves a Huge Success The first grand ball given under the auspices of the Provo chamber of commerce came Wednesday evening and proved an artistic and financial success A number num-ber of persons from this city went down to attend the ball and each speaks well of the affair and in high terms of the hospitality hospi-tality of the people of that thriving and progressive city Arriving at the depot the visitors were greeted by music of the Provo brass bandnow under the tutorship of Prof E W Kentand amid its playing were escorted up town by members of the committee on reception All were soon comfortably housed It was a glorious Utah evening and all the city was awaiting anxiously the time for the beginning of the grand event Being ushered into the Opera house the first thing to cause surprise sur-prise was the elegant decoration which had been arranged for the occasion Flags banners mottos evergreens flowers mirrors etc were hungl draped and festooned fes-tooned in the most charming manner from every available point A music stand had been temporarily erected whereon Olsons band with Hillam as prompter was stationed sta-tioned Soon the dancers were enjoying themselves and Beauteous belles and manly swells Trip gaily while the music wells A programme of twentyfour dances was gone through with at the close of which there was the general verdict during the farewelling that the whole affair was a success artistically and financially During the usual intermission Jude Dusenberry was prevailed upon to remain and favor those who remained in the hall with a real old M9er quadrille and waltz all of which created considerable amusement and added zest to the already pleasant occasion occa-sion THE HERALD joins with all in wishing the Provo chamber of commerce many happy returns of the day |
