| Show A YOUNG INCENDIARY I His Alleged Crime of Firing Stacks at Spanish Fork To the Editor of THE HERALD ON THE 31st ult some hay stacks and lucerne seed the property of Mr W Dan er and sons andvalued at about 200 were burned under such circumstances circum-stances as to cre > te a suspicion that it was the work of an incendiary Nc direct evidence against the suspected party however could be obtained until the day before yesterday when instate a in-state of Bemiintoxication a boy aged about 17 by the name of Brigham Crecheron confessed the whole thing Re was immediately arrested and yesterday yes-terday evening had an examnation before be-fore J W Robertson justice of the peace whichresulted in his being bound over to await the action of a higher court Not being able to furnish bonds he was today sent to the county jail The reason for the wanton act is supposed to be an ill will the defendant had against one of the Darger boys the result of some personal difficulty The young man haued formerly from Salt Lake and was at one time an inmate for a brief period of Dr Youngs Asylum He left home or was sent from home as he claimswhen he was but a mere child and has been a reckless reck-less wanderer nearly ever sKce i ABOUT 25CO head of cattle and several hundred head of horses wore recently driven from their summer range in the mountains and turned loose l in the fields and whilo most of these belong to the farmers some stockmen are taking advantage of a brotherly custom and glutting the fields to which they have no claim with their own stock The farmers have formed an association to prevent further imposition in this direction It THE PREVALENCE oftyphoid and other fevers in our midst called forth a proclamation from the mayor asking the people to unite in an effort to stamp out as far as possible the deadly disease by strict observance of sanitary rule THE SECOND term of the District Schools opened last Monday with a fair attendance and the prospects for a successful terms work are good The schoolhonsa that was so shattered by the wind last spring is again ready for occupancy FATHER JOHN A LEWIS an old and respected citizen of this place died here last week w SPANISH FORK Utah Nov 11th 1887 |
