SOME FEATURES include a public relations campa.gn to inform the public on what I&M can do to minimize health effects of air pollution; how the program may work and its cost and public benefits derived from properly tuned cars, proper driving habits, car pooling, pool-ing, mass transit, etc. An advisory council, set up several monts ago, will continue con-tinue to operate with elected officials and representatives from transportation and related re-lated agencies. THE GROIT will meet at least once monthly to evaluate data collected by the Davis County Health Department I&M staff relating to vehicle emissions, air quality problems prob-lems and to evaluate proposed policies, rules and regulations. It will consider private garage gar-age operation, contracted centralized cen-tralized operation and a county-operated centralized operation opera-tion for vehicle inspection. SPECIFIC DATES have been set for drafting regulations, regula-tions, hearings, construction and training of inspectors for the three types of inspection operations that c'Jd be set up. But Environmental Health Director Richard Harvey said things are still in an "iffy" pattern, pat-tern, meaning if pollution levels can be reduced, the county would not be forced to implement a mandatory inspection in-spection and maintenance program, tb |
