1518S8 Richfield Writings I THIS metropolitan city of southern Utah is situated about 180 miles south of Salt Lake on one of the beat paths to the southern country and is one of the principal stopping places She furnishes fur-nishes the best hotel and hostelry accommodations ac-commodations south of Nenhi there being three hotels here Richfield is the capital of Sevier County and has every prospect of becoming one of the principal cities of Utah Many of the resources of which our fair Territory can boast are found in this portion of the world The grazing or pasturelands pasture-lands in connection with tho fine range ill around Richfield make the sheep and cattle interests quite an item Messrs J M Peterson ds Co Buller Bros and the Cooperated Herd Company are the chief interested people in this respect re-spect Mr W H Seegmiller the president pre-sident of the Beyier County Stake is one of those genuine energetic Americans Ameri-cans and everything he touches seems endowed with enterprise and under his skilful manipulations the interests of woich he is president are among the first The people of Richfield have shown their good judgment by making Mr Seegmiller the mayor This is another reason of their permanent advancement advance-ment The western hills of Richfield furnish an excellent quality of dark red colored sandstone in plentiful quantities quan-tities and forms the chief budding material ma-terial The brick we saw in RIchfield was of an inferior quality the clay so far found being of such a sandy nature as to render them almost worthless THE people of Sevier County are building a large stake tabernacle at Richfield of red sandstone which when finished will be a magnificent structure with a seating capacity of 3000 It will be 120x70 feet facing the east with a tower 22 feet square on the front and a vestry on the west measuring 31x22 I feet The height of the main building I Will be 30 feet to the square It is being erected just soutn of the old on entering and leaving BichfMd we hear Sacpjte County referred to as the Granary of Utah but Ijthink if the statistics were known of this veritable granery that at least it would come in for a large share of credit for raising grain I have some notes and statistics for an article on the inducements offered the Utah Central for running their roaR down this rich valley of resources ta the vast coal and timber lands of Garfield Gar-field CountyTBAVELIKO TRAVELING INDUSTRIALIST NEpfli December 151888 A Night in Neplri The Nephi Primary Association under the management of Mrs J A Booth gave a very advise Miss Edna Sparks to suggest to her lov r in the play that he have a more durable moustache inasmuch in-asmuch as the brand he leaves after each kissing act causes such a ripple of merriment to prevade ihe audience that considerable of the play is lost The distinctiveness of speaking and general make up with the beautiful and tasteful arrangement of the details in the parlor scene show the
