Show Protestant Episcopal Convention NEW YORK Oct 1GIn the Episcopal convention today the report of the special committee to which the memorial of the colored clergymen was referred was read a majority and minority report being presented pre-sented Dr Phillip Brooks who presented the minority report said in speakin of the church that she knows nothing of the color of a mans skin The reports were made the special order for Friday The committee on constitutional amendments amend-ments report that they were of the opinion that the general convention has power to grant a presbyter or deacon aright a-right of appeal The recommendation of the committee for the insertion in Article 6 of the words including such court of appeals as such diocese may deem expedient was placed on the calendar The house then went into committee of the whole on majority report on liturgical litur-gical revision A resolution that the word proper be inserted in the table of contents con-tents was carried A motion that the word earthquake be added to the appeals in tbe litany and the addition of certain prayers for use during the rogation and that Psalm CJ be replaced by Psalm 6 in the service for Good Friday was concurred con-curred in A number of other amendments were discussed at great length but failed on a vote The house of bishops this afternoon had not concurred in the tentative use of the hymnal for the ensuing three years |
