| Show POLITICS IN IDAHO The Pot Commences to Boil Mormons Mor-mons and Votes Politics in Oneida County writes a HERALD correspondent under dale of July 10th are booming The commissioners com-missioners have been occupied lately in establishing precincts and appointing judges and registrars of elections Bishop Pratt of Franklin was at Ma lad with petition asking for seven additional precincts but the commissioners commis-sioners failed to grant the request and established but one additional precinct pre-cinct He says the Mormons are coming out in force and will vote to a man and I have it from what I consider con-sider the best of authority that the registrars will all be instructed to refuse to register a Mormon From now on everything in a political way will be decidedly interesting The Mormons say they will vote the antis say they wont A case will be made out of the first Mormon who registers and swallows that oath which is so notorious no-torious The Geniies say they understand under-stand Gov Stephenson will cause all Mormons who attempt to vote to be arrested ar-rested and the Mormons on the other hand say they have it from Gov Stephenson himself that he will do no such thing What conclusion is to be arrived at from such a conglomeration of rumors The commissioners adjourn ad-journ to morrow The Bingbam county commissioners are in session now and I suppose the same interest is displayed there as here A short time will bring it all about There is no question but that the Mormons will swallow the oath and of course the interesting part of the proceedings will be to wait and see what action will be taken by the courts ff |
