Show BUISIINGrON CONSPIRATORS When the allegad dynamite conspirators conspira-tors were arrested the other day a howl went up tht the Burlington officials were persecuting the Engineers and Firemens Brotherhoods The accused professed not only innocense but the greatest astonishment that they were even suspected of so ugly an offense Brotherhool oISs rs were at first in doubt as to whether or not the arrested parties wera really membars of the orderJani afterward were indi nan1 ac I the thought of the men doing the things charged It was said that if the c t cased were really guilty the Brotherhoods Brother-hoods would aid the law officers in bringing the accused to then i t-hen Chief Hoge and Chief Murphy ofjthe Engineers and Firemen respectively respect-ively were arrestei as being implicated in the alleged conspiracy They also were greatly astonished The lawyers employed by the Brotherhooda stepped in promptly to defend all the parties and the Burlington people went ahead to make out their case and sustain the pharge As evidence of the fiendish plot developed the men began to rate and show that there was t ifJ IB tne QIrga baidei cution by a soulless corporation Two or three days ago one of the accused more chickenhearted than the others weakened and confessed his guilt Yesterday two others failed in their courage and one of them told the story of the conspiracy implicating loge and Murphy It is believed the latter will fall into line if immunity from puc ishment is offered and tell what he knows about tha rIot to wage most vicious war against the railroad company com-pany It begins to look very much as if the Burlington people knew what they were about when they made these arrests ar-rests i and it also looks as if the Brotherhoods would have to go If the facts shall prove to beas now indicated there is but one course for the firemen and engineers to pursue to save their organizations They must at once read the conspirators out of the Brotherhoods Brother-hoods and then do their utmost to bring the guilty to the punishment they so richly merit If the conspiracy shall be traced to the very heads of the organizations then the heads should be bounced and turned over to the fate which they deserve It is not the time or ocjason for sympathy There are good men in these societies and they cannot afford to havj their names tarnished tarn-ished and their honor integrity and tru3tworthmS3 destroyed by connection connec-tion with and upholding men so depraved de-praved and vicious as those engaged in the hellish conspiracy which is being exposed |
