Show Disputeda Disputed Tax SCOFISLD Utah March 1C 1886 To TUE EDITOR or THE HERALD In Pleasant Valley we have about 160 children between 6 and 10 years of age Last year a special tax was levied to build a schoolhouse The Utah Central Coal Company Pleasant Valley Coal Company and the Western Union Telegraph Tele-graph Company paid the tax but the Denver Rio Grande Western refused to do so Theschool trustees then gave the matter intothe hands of the Assessor Asses-sor and Collector of Emery Countyand he has now informed then that it cannot can-not be collected by law It is believed that the Denver Rio Grande Western has refused to pay the tax on the grounds of a dispute as to the boundary line of the county Now we wish to I ask can the tax be collected or not If not why not If the Denver Jr Rio I I Grande Wesiern refuses to pay its tart tar-t should not the Assessor dad Collector enter suit against it We have no schoolhouse but need one very much I Advise us in this matter and we will be very thankful j Vox Porui1 |
