Show The elephone Invostlcatlon WASHINGTON March 19Dr ilorers continued his testimony before tile telephone tel-ephone investigating committee today Referring to his transfers of tok Dr Rogers added to the names he had already al-ready Stated those of General Frank Armstrong of the Indian office ntlhat time General Thomas Crittenden Gen A B Upshew Col l Boudenot R C Win tersmith and AD Coke Republican and I Chronicle Washington newspapers The witness sold the stock to the newspapers news-papers and gave it for advertising It was possible he had given American postal stock to Messrs Morey and Manning Man-ning The witness had expressly contemplated con-templated legislation for the American Postal Companv and it was so stated iu pamphlets but the bill was never introduced He saw no impropriety im-propriety in giving the stock to members of Congress Congressmen do not take vows of chastity poverty and obedience said the witness hI went upon that principle he added to I the amusement of the spectators Mr J Harris Rogers was then recalled re-called Mr Gates inquired if the witness wit-ness was correctly reported in an interview inter-view published inthe New York Tribune of March 16 Witness said the interview inter-view was correct |
