Show Wbulilutltcopen the Account WASHINGTON September nThe Second Comptroller of the Treasury has made a decision denying the motion of counsel jor the Baltimore Ohio RailroadCompany i that adcounta of that companyfor the general transportation trans-portation of soldi rs and supplfes during the civil war be reopened The application was based on the ground that the company wag subjected to extraordinary damages and expense in executing the business of the government govern-ment and was therefore entitled to more liberal compensation than was allowed at the time the accounts were settled The Comptroller declined to reopen the accounts for the reason that they had already been settled and because no new evidence was presented justify such a course He also made the point that the property of the company com-pany instead of being jeopardized by the business government was intact in-tact protected thereby |
