Show TIIE ALTA CLUB RECEPTION A Brilliant Turnout in Honor of Governor West The Alta Club rooms wets lit up last evening with such blare of brilliance as has never before been witnessed even in that quarter of fashion There had been no invitations issued outside of the Club but as the membership now I rsaches somewhere in neighborhood of 130 and as each member was given carte blanche on the question of Iadiesil may be Imagined that there was no lack of numbers elegance or beau ThIS guests began to arrive at about 9 oclock They were received by Mr Hush Anderson who placed th ni under the care of Mr Hugh Wallace who escorted them to Mr W 8 McCornick and tile latter gentleman introduced them to the Governor who had a few pleasant words of greeting and a smile for each There were present pres-ent altogether 110 persons sixty of whom were ladies Supper was served at 1030 oclock the room being elegantly ele-gantly decorated wits cut flowers the Geveraoreutering first with Miss Emma Walker on his arm Excellent music under the leadership of Mr H S Krouse was discoursed during the evening The toilets of the ladies prercn were perhaps the finest thst have ever been exhibited on a like occasion The gentlemen were in full dress and a noticeable feature of the affair was the absence of gloves thev no longer being considered en reglebv the bon ton world The reception was doubtless the most pleasant that has ever been held at the Alta Club and must be considered a thoroughly pleasing and enjoyable social success 0 < |
