Show YESTERDAYS ARREST C William Jeff Rccelres a Visit From the Deputies William Jeffs of the Sixteenth Ward was arrested yesterday moining on the going charge Deputies Greenman Jndihe and Glenn presenting themselves them-selves at his residence He was ordered or-dered to appear before Commissioner McKay at 10 am and a number num-ber of witnesses were also requested to appear there at the same hour Tbe complaint which il sworn to by eXI Marshal Ireland alleges Mary Ann Jells and Elizabeth Rawer Jeff as the ladies whom he has had the hardihood to support and acknowledge as his wives from June 1st 1SS5 to May 27th 1880 On appearing before the committing magistrate the defendant asked to be allowed to waive examination but this was not allowed and a number of witnesses wit-nesses were examined Tbe commit ting magistrate thought there was probable cause to believe the defendant guilty as charged and held flint t6 await the action of the Grand Jury bail being fixed at 1000 The witnesses were also placed under bonds of 200 each |
