Union Pacific and stocks already mentioned leading in the advance made during the next halfhour At 11 the market was active and firm generally a little below Saturdays closing prices NEW YORK November 9Noon Stocks continued strong until 1130 when the advance was checked and was followed by a decline of M to 7s the latter in St Paul but at midday the market was active firm and irregular NEW YORK November 93 pm Stocks firm until about 1 oclock when a general decline of about J per cent took place During the last hour the market was dull especially from 210 to 3 pm and prices were barely steady fluctuations being within range In final dealings there was aslightyielding and the market became dull and heavy and except for Union Pacific generally lower than on Saturday NEW YORK November 9 Governments Govern-ments dull and steady Stocks were very active this morning and prices for some of the most active stocks are quite feverish and irregular In the afternoon it drifted into a decided de-cided dullness especially when efforts were made to check the tendency to lower quotations which was a prominent promin-ent feature of the afternoons operations opera-tions The market closed heavy The special feature of the day was the strength developed in Union Pacific This stock opened with an advance of of at 59 and once in the forenoon it I rose to 613later yielding to 60 rallied to 61 that the recent strength displayed in the Louisville Nashville has been due to the granting of a permanent induction in-duction restricting the city council of Louisville from guaranteeing 1000000
