Show A NOTABLE GATHERING A Centennial Reunion in which a Salt Lake Citizen has an Interest I A memorable anniversary of an old and honorable family took place we learn from the Pittsburgh Commercial in upper St Clair township near that city on the 4th of the present month this was no less than the centennial reunion re-union of the family of the Gilfillans an ancestor of which had settled upon the very spot where they now met 100 years before After dinner a meeting was oranized says the account with Hon John Gilfillan as president and John G Bryant as secretary The chairman gave an interesting history the family with many vivid sketches of the progress it had made and the varied incidents which have occurred in its experiences regrets were read from many absent members of the family who have homes in distant parts of the country among them Mr Jas B Glass of Salt Lake City a gentleman who is of the fourth generation by his mothers side Mr Glass the wellknown gentleman of the Studebaker establishment informed the writer that his family the Gil fillans has taken great interest in collecting col-lecting together all its representative and holding occasional reunions That which the above notice refers to was in commemoration of Alexander Gilfil lan the pioneer of the namev ho settled in Pennsylvania a century ago and from whom all present members of the family are proud to trace their origin Among those who were present at the reunion was the only surviving daughter of the first of the name a lady now 55 years of age Next year says Mr Glass si still greater gathering will beheld be-held ana it is expected that every living liv-ing rfprointatrfe of the name will be iresent in porsftn by troy or Inlet l In-let ter I |
