Show Rnaway Accidents A coule of serious runaways took place on Saturday early in the afternoon after-noon The first was that of a young man and a young lady They had been riding about the city for a time prior to going to the races and the young fellow had a spirited horse and displayed his lack of sense by using the whip too freely A number who saw him predicted disaster I dis-aster While on the way to the I races he whipped the animal once I too often and it ran away He was then going down North Temple street and as the horse turned towards City Creek and was in danger of plunging in the acque duct the youth pulled strongly in the reverse directin and the animal bolted in towards the fence pitching out both the inmates The young lady miraculously escaped uniBjured but the young fellow was banged up against a picket fence and had his nose broken and his face badly hurt The buggy was broken to pieces the horse bolted off and finally stopped at the rear of Mr John Q Cannons house The rift belonged to Mark MeEInnmins At the same hour Mr Brim and Mr C E Wallin were going to the races in Mr Brims rig when by some means while on South Temple street the buggy overturned and both were thrown out Wal len was very badly cut about the head and face and had to be taken to his residence where medical attendance at-tendance was secured He was not seriously hurt 4 |
