Show w n 1 1 l1I If J Ii t Mines in Millard County DETROiTMillard Co Junes 1382 Editors Herald Supposing that you would like to hear a word from this section of the oriferous district of Utah I wish to say that I have just been making a pleasant visit with Mr Willis Brady speciil agent of the Deseiet Gold and Silver Mining Companys property Millard County Utah This company was formed List winter win-ter under the laws of the state of Illinois by Chicago capitalists with a capital of 8500000 50OOiJ shares all uaid uu with the following offi cers President John Jordan vice president Ira W JBuell treasurer C C Davis secretary E P Hall superintendent David Crofts and special agent Willis Brady The property worked and owned by this corporation consists of theE the-E P H mines with the extension known as the Cave and the Athens These three mines are in a limestone formation of a base metal character charac-ter something of the character of the Mammoth mine of Tintic They have about 175 tons of ore on the dump variously assayed to wit Gold S to S20 silver 18 to 15 ozs copper 12to 40 per cent with a well defined ledge on the surface and a vein four feet wide Their shaft is 100 feet deep It is my opinion tliat at no distant day this district will vie with some of our older districts for the palm i I never visited a mining district where there were more indications of ledges than can be found in this There has been already a large number num-ber of discoveries monumeuted and recorded This district is only thirty miles west of Deseret and it is my opinion I opin-ion presents inducements far ahead of those offered by Idaho or Montana Mon-tana to the hardy and enterprising miner of Utah Respectfully J D M CROCKWELL |
