| Show The Races Wildmoor was on the track on Friday andis a daisy Speculation is rife as to which horsehe or Red Boywill be the victor Wildmoorhas national reputation and is a bad horse to beat Both he I and Red Boy are Kentucky bred I There seems to be an impression that Wildmoor is the better horse but as even chances are what make races especially when much money is up the relative merits of the two can be determined only by a trial The gentleman who owns Wild moor also owns Pearl Jennings and is willing to bring her here if satisfactory inducements can be offered It is not unlikely after all that she will be matched against Euchre the horse which it was offered to run against her before and which offer was declined Negotiations are now pending and it is one of the most probable things that inducements sufficient to bring her here will yet be offered Every day as before stated adds to the interest and gives promise ot better results Many persons are now satisfied that there is no better place for a racing meet east of Chicago than right here and since men are running the concern who are willing to put up money there is every reason to suppose that erelong ere-long Salt Lake will have a national reputation as a place for jockey meetings Last evening Mr E J Travis received re-ceived a dispatch from California in which he was informed that a II car load of horses would be shipped thence in a few days to take part in the races of the Utah Jockey Club commencing on the 24th inst There will probably be twenty in the car and they will include runners and trotters It is yet a matter of doubt as to what horses will be put in the trotting races and they will not be known for several days yet There is a great deal of talk and strong probabilities of several match races growing out of contests in the coming meeting |
