| Show Keen but Correct New York 9Time editorial A curious illustration of the facility with which our democratic friends lay aside the doctrine of state rights when occasion occa-sion requires is found in the pleasing endorsement General W S Rosecrans of California by his fellow members on the democratic side of the House The general in whose hands the pen is ever mightier than the sword desires to be reelected to Congress He has accordingly secured from Blackburn Black-burn Springer Tucker Singleton Single-ton and goodly numbers of other democrats who profess to be tenacious of state dignataries and rights documents recommending his California constituents constitu-ents to send him back to Congress Rosecrans says he will ever bold this endorsement en-dorsement in proud remembrance and will send it to the Pacific Coast as a token of the high esteem in which he h held by his fellow democratic members Of course ha will run That is what the testimonial was intended far and if the voters of San Francisco do not know who rescued them from Mongol ion domination domina-tion here are fifteen or twenty state rights democrats eager to tell them that ieir rescuer is MajorGeneral W S Rosecrans who should by all means be returned to the House which he adorns |
