Show Bountiful Gets A Check. But Can't Vote By DAVE WIGHAM For only the second time in 14 years the Bountiful city council didn't have enough members to constitute a quorum at their weekly meeting. THREE OF the council members were excused from the meeting leaving only two voting members. A majority of three is needed to conduct any action. The only action that took place at the meeting besides the reading of the last meeting meet-ing was a presentation of a $7,500 check to the city. ' THE CHECK was from the State Division of Health in payment for their share of the new ambulance recent ly purchased by the city. The ambulance, which cost $20,000, was paid for by this check and then some federal revenue sharing money and some Capitol Improvement j money that the city had. I Those in attendance of the j meeting were Mayor Swapp, Councilman Elmer Barlow and Councilwoman Phyllis Southwick. The mayor indicated in-dicated that the three absentees absen-tees were all excused from the meeting for various reasons. SINCE THE mayor doesn't have a vote in the procedures there were only two council members present, with five j on the council a total of three j is needed. i Mayor Swapp noted that i since this was only the second ; lime in that amount of time that the council hasn't had a quorum "that is a pretty good record." ' ALL ACTION that was to take place last night will be taken up with the council next Wednesday, also next week the council will establish the mill levy for the city. |
