Show SUNDAY SERVICES The opening hymn at the Assembly Assem-bly Hall on Sunday afternoon was the one beginning Ye Gentile nations cease your strife And Ii ten to the words of life Turn from your sins with one accord Prepare to meet your coming Lord Prayer by Elder John Irvin The choir sang the hymn commencing com-mencing Coma follow methe Saviour said Then let us in his footsteps tread For thus alone can we be one With Gods own lovd begotten Son AIOSTLE BRIGHAM Y OUlG addressed I II ad-dressed the congregation Ho was always glad to hear an elder say that he was in possession of the I truth of the gospel That testimony was a jewel that would be easily lost by transgression No one had found out in council of himself that Jesus was the Christ but the knowledge came from Godand once in possession of that knowledge we could reach into eternal things God had given unto his people revelations rev-elations and his prophetic words through bis servants had been literally lit-erally fulfilled with the saints There were things that the speaker knew and he also knew that the path to salvation and eternal life was plainly marked yet he did not know who would follow it back into the presence of God Till one could know that he should pur suelthe path if he would be saved The saints were a peculiar people in the sight of the world simply because they were trying to carryout carry-out the gospel of Christ in an unbelieving un-believing word Elder Young said that many of the revelations that were contained in Doctrines and Covenants were not understood by the saints This was particularly so in reference to the revelations on celestial marriage and the law of tithing The latter was probably not understood alike by two bishops in the church In regard re-gard to the celestial law of marriage I many a man went into the house of I the Lord and had his wife sealed to him and thought he had fuhiled the tow of God but Le haJ not done so but was trampling the law of God under his feet There is salvation for everybody who would obey the laws of God but there was no salvation salva-tion for anybody who would not obey these laws I ELDER G G Bx WATER Addressed the congregation briefly The choir sang an anthem and I i Elder D n Well pronounced the benediction 1 |
