Show FIRE LIMITS TIThe i The Extension and the Ground Covered The ordinance published in this issue passed by the City Council on Tuesday evening last extends the fire limits over nine blocks The former limits included six blocks three on either side of Main street between South Temple street and I Third South The nine blocks embraced em-braced in the extension are four blocks bounded on the north by North Temple west by First West south by Third South east by West Temple street three blocks bounded on the north by South Templ > west by First East south by Third Southeast South-east by Second East street two blocks bounded on the north by Third South street east by First East south by Fourth South west by West Temple street The fire limits are now made to extend over fifteen blocks A question has already arisen concerning the applicability ap-plicability of the new ordinance to buildings in course of erection Mr George A Lowe has the material on the ground ready to construct an addition to his establishment on First East street upon a block included in-cluded in the extension to the fire limits The addition is to be a frame structure sim lIar to those already erected by Mr Lowe and the question immediately im-mediately arises shall the contemplated contem-plated building be allo lied to continue con-tinue in the face of an ordinance prohibiting anythIng but a fireproof building on that block The city Inspector of Buildings Mr A H Raleigh will be called upon to render ren-der a decision on the subject S |
