Show J Indian Murder Hon A K Thurber of Richfield Rich-field informs the Prove Enquirer that on Friday last in Burrville I Green valley an altercation occurred oc-curred between ftwo Indians named respectively Peterson Sangints and Charley Corohos when Peterson Pet-erson struck Charley with hig riding rid-ing whip on the head and broke his skull Charley died on Sunday night OnMonday the Justice of the Peace M L Burr summoned a jury and held an inquest the verdict being that Charley came to his death by being struck on the head by Petersen with an Indian riding whip Charley was buried at Burr ville on Monday Indians and whites attending the funeral Justice Burr issued his warrant for the arrest of Peterson but the constable was saved the trouble of serving it as the Indians made the arrest at their camp some ten miles distant from Burrville on Wednesday and delivered de-livered the prisoner to the constable con-stable An examination was had and the prisoner was committed to the county jail at this place to await the action of the grand jury The Indians and whites think this is a just proceeding as Charley is I the second man Peterson has killed and he is a dangerous person |
