Show co COMMERCIAL Trade Mining and Stocks The dwtgreeabe tate of the weather during the greater part of the past week contributed to make trade somewhat dull until yesterday when there was a heavy influx of country customers and a very brisk Saturday business was the result The money market which bore some signs of easing up several weeks ago has now suddenly lightened again and the best of loans are going begging in all Directions Several heavy borrowers bor-rowers with such undeniable securities as Z 0 M I etock and U C R R bonds and stock have been refused the banks and if they have found accomodation tall t-all they have been forced to pay high rates to private lenders It is always difficult to ascribe a reason for the sudden scarcity of money in this market but al the nresent time it seems to be due mainly to the demands of the merchants who are taking advantage of the freight war to lay in heavy stocks of m rchandise mother reason is that all the heavy mires and smelters puy o2their bond from the lit to the 15tb of each month and the banks where tbey do business nsualv curtail the Eupply of currency until this class of their customers is satisfied Present Pres-ent indications seem to point to a more plentiful supply of money towards tbe latter part cl the month The bad weather has had the effect of closing up the canyon roaGs 10 that they are well nigh impassable For this reason the weeks shipments have been comparatively light from Park City tough the Apex hue sent down several small lots all of which were surprisingly sur-prisingly l inferior to its shipments immediately im-mediately previous the assays ran in the neighborhood of 28 ounce silver and 35 per cent lead a fact which confirms con-firms the opinion that the Apex is only a continuation of the Crescent vein Sampson will have a shipment down the early part of the week The Michigan syndicate controlling the great Crescent property have been on the ground for the past several days surveying the mine and holding meetings meet-ings in the Park There is practically no dimunition of the great ore bodies in I this property notwithstanding the enormous I enor-mous output from day to day an immense im-mense amount of ore is in the orehouses awaiting the time when the roads enable it to be reached by the teams engaged in hauling The past week has seen but little activity in local stocks unless we accept the feverish cperations in Horn Silver There was great anxiety among dealers at the commencement of the week to know whether the dividend would be paid as usual and an inability to learn anything po ° ttive caused several heavy owners to Bell at something below coat When the dividend came the stock rallied ral-lied and has been going up point fby point for the last fortyeight hours just keeping far enough ahead of this limit to disappoint several l people here who had sent in orders to buy at a certain figure Apex has been on the ascent ever since tbe result of its hst assays was unown This in the face of a delinquent assessment assess-ment next 8aturd y looks encouraging for the executive mansion Several saves took place on Friday at 20c per share I Sampson and Crescent remain without any material change though the general tendency of the latter IE upward Ontario gladdened many a herrt by resuming its dividends during the past week The expectations are that there will 1 be no j further break in its distribution of profits Utah Wool NOV MBRR 10 Fine good condition 11 to 18 11 heavy 12 to 13 Medium good 15 to 16 14 poor I 14 to 15
