Show I DRAMA AWARDS Bountiful Recreation Department presented its final summer plays for junior and senior high students on August 29 and 30. The plays were conducted by Bryan Bowles, a speech and drama teacher at Bountiful High School. The best actors, the best actresses and the best plays were awarded trophies. THE BEST senior high play was "Spoon River Anthology" directed by Gayle Nielsen. Cast members were Melanie Mitchell, Ryan Shaum and Teresa Bassett. The first runner-up to best play was "The Midnight Caller" directed by Ernest Nielsen. Best actor was awarded to Ryan "Shaum for his roles in "Spoon River Anthology." Melanie Mitchell also from "Spoon River Anthology" was awarded the best actress honors. Runner-up to best actor ac-tor were Joel Lasalle, first runner-up; and Keith Merrill, second runner-up. Runners-up Runners-up to best actress were: Kim Muir. first; Kari Davis, second and honorable men-tions men-tions were awarded to Teresa Bassett, Wendy Webster and Carla Crowther. JUDGES CHOSE "Run, Robber, Run" directed by Michael Nielsen as the best junior high play. The first runner-up was "The Ugly Duckling" directed by Ernest Nielsen. Mark Smedley from "The Winning honors in Bountiful drama recently are, front 1 to r, Juliann Gillette, Mark Smedley. Back, Melanie Mitchell, Ryan Shaum and Gayle Nielsen. Ugly Duckling" was named best actor and Juliann Gillette from the same play was named best actress. Runners-up to the best junior high actor were; Paul May, first; David Blauer, second and honorable mentions were awarded to Paul Mcllrath and Bruce Bumingham. FIRST RUNNER-UP to best actress was Amy Bombard; Bom-bard; Becky Meservey, second and honorable mentions men-tions were awarded to Fawna Gillette, Jennifer Clark and Christine Stacey. |
