Show l'.'c:js Cross cops Stradi Alivo; mil Battle Urn Elder And Ogdcn By DAVE WIGHAM WOODS CROSS - Even though the Wildcats enter these two games with a perfect per-fect 2-0 league record and their two opponents are still winless in that same league the Cats know they'll have to fight for their lives to come away with a couple of wins. THE TWO games, away to Box Elder on Friday and at home to battle the Ogden club on Wednesday, could go a long way in determining the outcome of the season for the Woods Cross bunch. The Wildcats looked anything but impressive last week in' beating a very stub-bom stub-bom South club and it took a great effort from some of their people to pull out the win. GOING INTO these two games though the biggest question mark around the Wildcat camp is the status of running back Jeff Ostler who missed the South game. Following the game with Bear River a couple of weeks ago Jeff complained of a sore knee. Last week he went to the doctor and the word was that he had a popped kneecap and would have to sit out two weeks. That means he's a doubtful player for game one against Box Elder. The Wildcats Wild-cats obviously missed him against South as the offense seemed to clog up. ALSO UP for grabs is the winning streak of the Wildcats, Wild-cats, now the season and school record is four in a row as the Cats have yet to taste defeat this season. If Ostler doesn't play this week then the Cats will again need top performances from those same people who did a great job in the South win. Defensively Todd Ballif was super from his secondary position picking off two passes and making numerous tackles. JOHN MONTGOMERY played extremely well on defense and scored the only Wildcat touchdown after picking off a batted pass and running twenty yards. The entire Wildcat defense should take a bow for their performance perfor-mance against South but will need the same effort and more this Friday. Mark Earnshaw seems to be the quarterback for the Cats and only a junior, he gets better each week with experience. Sophomore Nick Nitzell is also a strong contender con-tender especially on passing situations. OGDEN comes to town on Wednesday and once again the Tigers bring one of the hardest hitting high school clubs into town. The Tigers have lost their two games by a grand total of nine points. Ogden has scored two more points in their two games than have the Cats so this game figures to be the offense of the Tigers against the defense of the Cats. MAIN CONCERN for the Cats will be the passing combination com-bination of Kevin Curtis and Yuk Choi who has excellent speed. For the second straight time the Wildcats will also be facing a speedy back, this time it's Ogden's Vic Jackson. Ostler should be back for the Ogden game, don't rule him out of Box Elder either. With him back, the Cats have that explosive threat, without him they might have to rely on the foot of Stu Egan again and their stingy defense. |
