Show Fevj Road Section, Bridge, Wovj pen BOUNTIFUL - Another link of Davis Boulevard has been completed and motorists can now travel this north- south street from about 600 North to 1000 South. CITY ENGINEER Jack Balling said the bridge crossing cross-ing Barton Creek is now completed and the structure and adjoining road are open to traffic. He said the concrete bridge cost about $270,000 and the road from Center Street to 700 South-which South-which was constructed at the same time as the bridge-cost about $154,000. But even with the completion comple-tion of the Barton Creek crossing, there still remains another canyon to cross before the two-lane collector street can be connected to North Canyon Road for routing rout-ing westward to Orchard Drive and Interstate Highway l5MR. BALLING said the proposed Davis Boulevard is a two-lane street with a parking strip available on both sides of the street. "It is not a boulevard as the name implies," said Mr. Balling. "But it will serve as a major north-south collector street for residents living along the east bench of the city." THE NEXT scheduled crossing, that of Mill Creek, will be an earth-filled crossing cross-ing with flood control capabilities, Mr. Balling explained. It will be more costly than the Barton Creek overpass recently completed. He said the first phase of the Mill Creek project probably proba-bly will begin in January with earth-fill, drainage and flood control structures, sprinkling system and landscaping. "WE HAVE appropriated the money from the city budget bud-get for the first phase of this project, but we probably won't get started on it until after the first of the year," said Mr. Balling. "Money for the road work portion of the project probably will be included in next fiscal year's budget after July 1." The city manager explained that funds for both crossings have been taken from the city's collector road funds and placed in the general fund under an advance expenditure expendi-ture program. "THE CITY has budgeted the funds from the city's general fund and this money will be replaced with the state collector road funds which will be due over the next six or seven years," said Mr. Balling, grb |
