Show Colonel Davis C. Rohr Nominated For Brigadier General By Pres. Carter j The Tactical Air Command has announced that President Carter has nominated Colonel Davis C. Rohr, commander of the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at HAFB, for Senate appointment to the rank of Brigadier General. Colonel Rohr's name will be submitted submit-ted with 51 others when the Senate reconvenes after the Christmas holidays. AN effective date will not be announced until after the Senate confirmation and it has not been determined whether the promotion will result in a change of assignment assign-ment for Colonel Rohr. He took command of the 388th TFW on Aug. 3, 1977. Prior to coming to Hill AFB, he was commander of the 67th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing at Bergstrom AFB, Tex. The 388th TFW has been selected as the first Air Force i unit to convert the new F-16 fighter aircraft. BORN in Burlington, Wise, Colonel Rohr graduated from Burlington High School and attended Northwestern University at Evanston, 111., his freshman year. He then attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and graduated from there in 1951 He attended the University of Washington, Seattle, and received his degree in Russian Rus-sian Affairs in 1960. Subsequently, Sub-sequently, he was assigned to the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo., where he taught military history his-tory and was in charge of the Academy's Russian history course. COLONEL Rohr has had assignments in Korea, Japan, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Ger-many, Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, Tuy Hoa (Tuee Wn Air Base, Republic of Viet nam, Langley AFB, Va m in the Office of the Assisu Secretary of Defense, inter national Security Affairs as country director for South America. He is a command piloi jj close to 4,500 flying hours having flown the F-86D4F Sabre J-et, the F-102 Delta Dagger, the F-100 Super Sabre and the F-4 Phantom. ; HIS decorations and award! include the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Ser-vice Medal, the Air Medal with 15 Oak Leaf Clusters, tte Purple Heart, and the Air Force Commendation Medal.'
