Show Youth Killed, Tivo Injured In Farm. Canyon Accident FARMINGTON CANYON A Salt Lake City man was killed and a Bountiful teenager and another Salt Lake City man were injured Monday evening when the four-wheel drive vehicle they were in rolled rol-led down a hillside about one mile up Farmington Canvon. Kirk Allen Martin, 19 Salt Lake City, died about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday after being injured in-jured in the rollover Monday about 7:15 p.m. Kelly Garrett, 16, of Bountiful, Bounti-ful, and Rick Smith, 17, of Salt Lake City, were injured in the accident. Miss Garrett suffered suf-fered extensive cuts, bruises and shock and is in good condition. condi-tion. Mr. Smith is in "serious" condition at LDS Hospital suffering suf-fering from severe head and body injuries. Miss Garrett, daughter of Gordon Garrett, Bountiful police officer, remained in the vehicle as it skidded and rolled about 75 feet down an embankment embank-ment about one mile up Farmington Farm-ington Canyon. She told investigating inves-tigating officers that she grabbed grab-bed the bottom of the seat and put her head between her legs when she realized that the vehicle was going off the road. Davis County Sheriff Deputy Depu-ty Miklos Preysz, who investigated, investi-gated, said the driver lost control con-trol of the vehicle coming down the canyon. The vehicle skidded and rolled down the embankment until it hit a tree. Deputy Preysz said no one witnessed the accident but two persons came upon the scene later and gave assistance until deputies and paramedics arrived. |
