GOODWIN J JUDGE ti of or the Third district court died dieda a 3 few minutes after declaring a re recess recess ro- ro cess In court yesterday morning from a sudden attack of ot heart failure caused by acute indigestion lie He was 68 years old and had been on the bench a little over a year car Court was convened by Judge Goodwin at 10 o'clock a a. m. m despite the fact tact that he ho complained of or be beIng being be- be ing Inc Indisposed It was a half halt hour later that he declared n a recess recess recess re cess of or ten minutes and proceeded to walk to his his' chamber unassisted He was as seen leaning slightly over his table by hy Bailiff William G Goodsell as the latter turned to get him a n glass of ot water When hen tho the bailiff entered the thc room ho found the Judge lying pi prone one on the floor Claar A physician W was 8 summoned but It was found that death had hat been Instantaneous Born norn at Graton Ga in 1849 Judge Goodwin came camo to Utah in 1892 1812 and took tool up UI his practice of or law During his residence In Utah he has been active In political and civic life having been a member of ot the Legislature th the free tree public library board and the civic lc art and planning committee as well as a prominent member of ot the First Methodist church He was elected to tho the bench In November 1916 and assumed office in JanuAry 1317 Judge Goodwin Is survived by his widow residing at Eighth East street and three sons Robert J. J now at Camp O Ga Harry Harrr Harry W. W V. V and G G.
