Show Singer Entertains Senior Citizens At Golden Years Delos Jewkes, soloist from California entertained the senior citizens at the Golden Years Center on Tuesday with a special musical program during the early afternoon. A special thanks is given this fine musician for presenting a beautiful musical program. THE Golden Years Center will be closed Feb. 13 and 20 for Presidents' holidays. Volunteers who will help with some instruction for the ballroom dancing every Thursday evening are needed. If you can volunteer to spend a little time teaching some steps to the dancers, please call the center, 295-3479 and offer your services. THE monthly luncheon will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 with the meal served at 11:30 a.m. A special treat is in store for the guests with a program of marimba music furnished by Professor Douglas Wolf who teaches music at Weber State College. Mr. Wolf is an artist on the marimba and was a winner at the National Music Competition Competi-tion at the University of Michigan in 1976. He will tour Europe this summer with the Utah Honor Band. He has played with the Utah Symphony during the past year. THIS FINE marimba concert con-cert will be one of the very special musicals for the senior citizens at their luncheon programs. There are some tours being planned during February and March. Plans are being made to visit the Osmond studios in Orem and at another time, lunch at Tiffany's Attic in Salt Lake City. IF THE weather cooperates there will be a bus trip to Hardware Ranch to see the elk herds. Then later on there will be more interesting trips in store for senior citizens. Call in or stop and leave your name if you are interested in any of these special events which are now being planned. Plans are now underway for the Governor's Conference to be held on Tuesday, May 9. All senior citizens are invited to this special event to be held in the Salt Palace. THE THEME of the conference will be "Heritage Arts Festival." This statewide state-wide event will also feature handcrafts of the senior citizens ci-tizens with a fine exhibit to be displayed. Watch for more details concerning the exhibits and articles which each person may display. With all the classes at the Golden Years Center filled to capacity, there should be many beautiful articles for disnlav. ki |
