The Tribune presents today a group of the most interesting and intellectual women in the state tho representative women of tho Utah Slate Federation, whoso meetings will .bo held in Provo this week. This group docs not include all tho brilliant xvomen of the organization organiza-tion by any means, bnt it may bo fairly fair-ly said to be representative in tho broadest tense of the word. Mrs. G. J I. McMahon is the president of the State j federation and has been active in club j work for some years past. She has ! rilled many offices, among them that of i corresponding secretary tor the goneal federation, and has filled all of them admirably. Mrs. ('. E. Allen is president presi-dent of ihc Mothers congress, and has, since the organization of the State federation, fed-eration, been an active power in club ;worU. Mrs. Hugh Park was tho mother of the Canyon Crest movement which did so much through the federution and through individuals for the good' of j homeless boys', before the work was .taken up by tho public or in a public way. ! Mrs. Ledvnrd M. Bailey is now chairman chair-man of the civic committee of tho federation, fed-eration, having already served as head of a similar section o'f the Ladies Literary Lit-erary club. Mrs. K, Hauxhurst is the ( president of the Wasatch Literary circle, cir-cle, a newer organization which has douo much along literary and altruistic lines in tho past three years. Tho meeting promises lo bo more filled with a real live interest than any of those held in tho past have been, and the programme prepared has been made of such a va-vied va-vied charactor as to draw the most intellectual in-tellectual and the most practical in all tho clubs. The xvomen of Provo, always hospitable hospit-able and the best of hostesses, have spared no pains to make the city a real convention city, and everything to provide pro-vide for the comfort and tho pleasure of the members has been done. In compliance com-pliance with the wishes of tho programme pro-gramme committee, socinl affairs pure and simple havo been limited to an afternoon af-ternoon reception the first dav, a musical musi-cal programme such as only Provo can provide for tho first evening, and a drive around the Garden City on Thursday afternoon, in xvhich the Provo clubs will be assisted by the Provo Commercial club. Tho remainder of the meetings havo been given over to earnest xvork, and alLhough much of the routine business has been dono axvay with, there will bo a groat deal of real business as well. A change is contemplated in the matter mat-ter of election, which would by all precedent conio another year, but which will be held in order to' make the regular reg-ular election hereafter come the same vear as the biennial. The reason for this is obvious to club members the claim being that the now officers are not sufficiently in touch with matters of importance to be nt their best in affairs af-fairs pertaining to the general federation. federa-tion.
