Show Lakeside Keiew, December 11. 1980. 1ace 11 A Commission Sets Hearing On Code Revision, Permit Fee Increase FARMINGTON The cost of 'building permits may go up if th$ county commissioners accepf the recommendation of the Davis County Planning Commission to adopt an updated version of the national uniform building codes. A public hearing is set Jan. 6. The county now adheres to a 1975 version of' the codes, but planner Niel Sessions told the commissioners Thursday that they have been requiring the updated versions even though they really cant enforce them. Sessions said that they are recommending that, along with the adoption of the new code requirements, they also accept the fee schedule that is included in the Uniform Building Code. He said the fees charged by the county are 50 percent lower than most of the cities in the county and by adopting the new schedule it would help bring the county up to date. Albert Cole, the director for the Davis County Planning Commission, said the fee schedule is updated every six months and he would also like the county to consider changing the wording of the ordinance to allow for changews by resolution rather than going through the public hearing process to update the fees. He said the only change the county is asking for would be acceptance of the appendix to the Uniform Building Code, which the county has now, and the wording change on the fee schedule. If the new fee schedule is adopted, Cole told ,the commission, a building permit for a home would go from $140 to $250. Maybe thats even just a little bit low and ot well want to adjust it higher, Cole said. He said the change would help the county catch up, but with the trends in the cities it will still be low. Most of the cities are increasing ' . . ; -- ; their fees, he told the commissioner. He advised the commissioners that they need ; to have a public hearing in order to make the changes but that it didnt have to go through the ; . 1 longer process of a zoning change.
