West Jordan won undisputed first place in the County Division by defeating Taylorsville to give them a record while Taylorsville dropped into a tie with Brighton at 17-- for second and third place. West remained atop the City Division with a record with East trailing at . The League, which has been sponsored this summer for the eighth consecutive year by the Salt Lake County Recreation department, will now hold its annual tournament starting Saturday. July 25th. According to Kenny Caputo, League Director, a drawing will take place on Tuesday after press time for the pairings but it has been agreed that action will start at Cottonwood, Winski. and Ken Price parks on Saturday at 3. Cottonwood will also be host to a 5 : 30 game while Winski and Ken Price will have games at both 5:30 and 8. The tournament will run through the following week with action on Monday at all three parks and the finals will be held the following Saturday, August 3 19-- 3 15-- 4 13-6- 1st. 15-- 0 play. Judge lost one game this past week, falling to Cottonwood on Wednesday but then getting a big lead on Jordan before the game was supended on Friday due to rain. Holladay split two Legion games this past week, beating Kearns on Wednesday, July and losing on Thursday, 15, by July 16, to Cyprus 10-- (See Cyprus story) The big blow of the game came in the top of the seventh when with Holladay leading by a precarious edge, Todd Holsten was hit by a pitch followed by a walk and a hit by Brian Hill to load the bases, with two outs and two strikes on Ryan Losser, the Kearns pitcher made the wrong pitch and Losser hit it over the fence for a grand slam home run. Kearns had taken a lead in the bottom of the second when Jerry Christensen hit a solo homer. But Holladay took back the lead in the top of the third when Jeff Burton singled and Gary Ogden homered. Cottonwood went ahead 2 in the third when Harris and Chris Taylor both singled and were doubled home by Stephan Sato who advanced to third on a ground out and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Bob Helm. Judge picked one single runs in the third, fifth, and seventh innings, due largely to Skamnes who had a 2x4 day at the plate and by Kersey who had three hits and a walk in four at bats. Robert Chacon started for Judge and was relieved by Greg Bishop in the fourth.
