Show j WEST VALLEY VllW Thursday, Mar. 19, 1981 LETTERS "Thanks" To The Commissioner . . . My day was brightened and my faith in our elected officials was strengthened when I read the article Budget Revision Gains Okay from the March 12 issue of the Green Sheet. West Valley City Aud- itor Russ Sanderson stated that Commissioner Jerry Wagstaff has turned back his $12,000 salary to the city. The article also stated that the commission County Says Sorensen Youth Is Eagle Scout KEARNS. Kevin J. Sorensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen, received the Eagle Scout award at a varsity court of honor in Kearns East stake. The youth is a member of varsity troop 441. Honor guards were James Taylor and Blaine Nelson. Speakers includ- ed scoutmaster Scott Hansen, Varsity Scout leader Frank Bird and the boys parents. The Sorensen boy earned 22 merit badges and especially enjoyed working on camping and others associated with the outdoors. For his Eagle project, he did cement work to assist people in wheelchairs entering and leaving the church building and also helped build a bike rack at the church. A ninth grade student at Kennedy junior high, he enjoys sports and outdoor activities, especially fishing and hunting, and is active in his priesthood quorum. The Sorensen boy enjoys building models and likes to build things out of wood, serving as a teacher aide in this area. KEARNS. The PTA is hosting banana split parties for each grade, with students being invited to bring their parents to a party, leaving brothers and sisters home, and sharing an activity. The final event in the project will be a party for fourth through sixth graders and their parents, to be held April 3, featuring a magic show. H&R BLOCK TAX.TEST the mall. We have a fairly good stand of grass that is coming up, but it needs sufficient time to mature and allow its root structure to develop before the diamonds can be used, Swensen stressed.
