Show 3B THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, September 24, 1987 Kids Into Spirit Of Celebration MAGNA. With local, state and organizations commemorating the founding of the constitution, a group of Magna kids decided that they wanted to get into the act. In doing so they not only strengthened their own feeling about the historic document that has served this country well, they also stimulated the patriotism of the adult population on Helen Drive. Although Helen Drive is a dead end street, there was nothing dead about the constitution parade that was sponsored by the children who live there and their friends. About 5:30 Thursday they distributed flyers to every house up and down the street requesting the occupants to fly their flags and come out on the porch to see a parade. Before too long there were spectators on every porch and a whole battery of flags waving in the breeze as youngsters, ranging in age from 21 months through the sixth grade, marched down the street dressed like patriotic heros and heroines of yesteryear. There was Betsy Ross and Ben Franklin and two girls carrying a banner lauding the merits of the constitution and proclaiming just what the constitution is. They even had candy to throw to the spectators along the way. The event was sponsored by Jamie Jepson, Lori Rose, Brooke Bliley and Emmy Bowden There were other Bowden children also involved including Joanna, Jacob, and Colt, as well as Erin and Chris Jepson.
