Show George T. Stevens Dies While Visiting At Home of Son In Hurricane HURRICANE, Utah. Funeral services were held Monday at one o'clock for George T. Stevens, who became ill while visting at the home of his son, George, and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Erma Stevens. Stev-ens. He died Friday. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Ann Stevens came from Salina to be with him, and was here at the time of his death. The services were conducted by Orville Webb, of the North ward bishopric. The Faculty quartet sang, "He Knows, My Heavenly Father Knows". Prayer by Chaun-cey Chaun-cey Sandberg. Pres. Claud Hirschi, Bishop Rassmusen of Salina, Ben F. LeBaron and James Judd were the speakers. All spoke of his honesty, integrity and dependability. dependa-bility. They also spoke highly of his son, Ned, who has preceded him in death and of his son, George, who is living here. Musical numbers were given by LaDonna Stevens, violin solo; Cecil Sanders Sand-ers and Donald Gubler sang, "One Fleeting Hour", accompanied by Mrs. Maud Deid; duet, "In the Garden of Yesterday", by Mrs. Beth Urie and Bob Neely. Pallbearers were Glen and Hugh Stevens, Vernon and Keith Madsen, Glen Macfarlane and Stace Wright. Those carrying the flowers were Venice Stratton, Elaine, Helen, Betty Lou and La-Donna La-Donna Stevens, Beulah and Hazel Marfarlane, Beth, Arline and Mildred Mil-dred Wright and Bonnie Madsen. George Thomas Stevens was born in Holden, June 13, 1864. He was the son of Albert and Letty McKee Stevens. In 1883 he moved to Wayne county, where he met and married Cynthia L. McClellan of Loa, May 7, 1888. In 1895 he moved to Salina. He lived there, at Provo and Goshen until 1920 when he moved to Hurricane. Hur-ricane. While here he was given many important positions, among them, president of the Hurricane Canal company and member of the town Board. His wife died at Cedar City in 1928. He then moved to Salina, where he resided at the time of his death. He married Sarah Ann Long in 1930. She, with the following fol-lowing children survive him. Mrs. William S. Wright of Charleston and Mrs. Ruby Madsen Pace of Cedar City, Hugh A. Stevens of Altonah, and George E. Stevens of Hurricane, and 24 grandchildren. |
