Show DIXIE PIONEER BURIED OCT. 9 AT LOGAN DALE Funeral services for Edgar John Whipplo, former Dixie I'ioneer, were held In Logandale, Nevada, October 9 under the direction of lilshop John R. Lewis. Speakers at the funeral were as follows: lilshop Snow, of Pine Valley; President Hunker and President Jones. They told of the life of Mr. Whipple, his accomplishments accom-plishments and fine character. Mr. Whipple was born In Salt Lake City, March 14, 1859. His parents were Ell and Carllne Lytic Whipple. He came with his parents, when a small child, to help settle St. George. His boyhood boy-hood was spent here and his education edu-cation attained In the local schools. As a young man he helped td build the St. George Temple. Ho was married December 7, 1881, to Jane Cooper and they moved to Pine Valley where they made their home until November 17, 1916 at which time they moved to Logandale. His occupation thru-out thru-out his life has been farming. Ho is the father of eleven children, child-ren, forty-three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His children are as follows: Mary Car-line Car-line Gardner, Lehl; Cornelia Cooper, Coop-er, John E., Jesse, Rueben and Wllford Wliiple all of Logandale; Ruth Prince, New Harmony, who is dead; LeRoy, William Dee and Heed, Las Vegas; Lula Jane Mathis, New Harmony. His brothers bro-thers and sister who survive him are: Eli and Charles Whipple, St. George; George and John, Sunny-side; Sunny-side; and Efl'ie, Salt Lake City. |
