Show Mrs. Bertha White Dies At Heme Here :J On Saturday, March 4th ' Mrs. Bertha Giles White, 62, wife of Levi C. White, died at the family home in St. George at 3:30 p.m. Saturday of complications compli-cations following heart trouble from which she has suffered for more than tw-o years. She has been bedfast for six weeks. Born in Morgan, Utah, July 13, 1S76, she was a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Elmina Meacham Giles. She was six when the family moved to Wayne county, settling in the town later known as Giles, honoring her father, who was bishop for 10 years, until the time of his death. It was there she met Levi C. White, whom she married in the Manti Temple on November 20, 1S95. Her husband was later made bishop, serving in this capacity for 15 years. Mrs. White was active as a relief society worker all her life, and both she and her husband served in the auxiliary organizations. Thev moved to St. George in 1925. Mrs. White is survived by her husband and six sons and daughters: daugh-ters: Mrs. Charles Partridge and Alonzo White, of Duchesne; Arley White, of Portland. Ore.; Mrs. W. R. Woolley, of Las Vegas, and Ivan White, of Nephi, Utah. There are also 35 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. After their own family was reared, Mr. and Mrs. White reared three orphan grandchildren. Ruth, Howard and Font Mayhew, their mother having hav-ing died soon after the family came to St. George. Ruth is now married and lives in Las Vegas, the two boys remaining with their grandfather. Andrew McArthur presided at the funeral services, which i were held in the south ward chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 7. There were many floral offerings. . Musical numbers were under the I direction of Mrs. Ada Cannon. J who presided at the console, with a vocal duet "Whispering Hope", by the Misses Iris and Leila Huntsman: "Jesus, Lover of My Soul", by Lenzi Sullivan and Alice Cannon; solo. "Oh. My Father", by Mrs. Lillian O. Cox and. duet "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Mrs. Cannon and Mrs. Cox. Prayers were by D. Wilson Woodard and Milton E. Moody. Ta'.ks were made by Mrs. Flora Brooks. John T. Woodbury Jr. and Pres. Harold S. Snow. Closing Clos-ing remarks were made by Bp. Andrew McArthur. Ke expressed appreciation of the family for the kindness shown during Mrs. White's illness and death. Burial was in the St. George cemetery. |
