The Wedding and Portrait Photographers International awards of excellence Competitions are advancing the art of Wedding and Portrait photography. These prestigious awards are presented each year to photographic artists at the largest convention, trade show and educational platform of its kind in the United States. This year's competition included over 9,700 print entries in 19 different categories, from photographers pho-tographers from all around the world. This has been the second year in a row that Mayberry has had winning prints in the "Awards of Excellence" competition. compe-tition. When asked about his honors, hon-ors, he said "It is important to remember, we have a lot of very skilled photographers in the Basin area, like Martinez, Roren, Jacque and others. People do not need to go to Salt Lake, Denver or anywhere else for that matter, to find great photography. Just do a little shopping here in Vernal and people can find a great photographer photog-rapher that will fit their tastes and budget. They are all right here in our own little town. We are very blessed to live and thrive here in this beautiful valley." Mayberry works for Digipix Studio in downtown Vernal and specializes in senior, wedding, children, family and maternity photography. The Welling Alberta Heritage Society has given tribute to the Bascom family for their role in pioneering the sport of rodeo. Some 90 years ago, back in 1916, former Vernal lawman and rancher, John W. Bascom with his three oldest sons, Raymond, Melvin and Earl, ran cattle along the banks of Pot Hole Creek near Welling, Alberta, Canada. The Bascoms had just moved to Alberta from the Uintah Basin. On the weekends, the Bascom boys were putting on ranch rodeos to entertain the local folk. The Bascoms designed and built a new type of bucking chute that had a dual purpose for breaking horses and for rodeo. "The bucking chute they designed and made was the first of its kind in rodeo, the original side-delivery chute," explains Gordon Wilde of the Welling Society. Up to that time, rodeo chutes were rare and those that did exist were a modified steer chute called a shotgun or straight-away chute. The Bascom bucking chute was a new innovation and a big improvement. It took less men to operate and was safer for the riding stock and the rider. Although some nearby rodeos rode-os adopted the side-delivery chute as early as 1918, such as the Cardston Stampede, others took longer. According to research by the American Heritage Rodeo Foundation, the Calgary Stampede didn't have a bucking buck-ing chute until 1919, the first bucking chute used in the state of Texas was in 1927 and Pendleton Roundup built its first bucking chute in 1939. Today, rodeo associations in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Europe all use a side-delivery style bucking chute. The late Earl Bascom, who was instrumental in design!! -rodeo's first side-delivery bucking buck-ing chute, became an internationally inter-nationally known artist ai A sculptor. Related to the master art ist Frederic Remington, Earl Bascom has been honored a ; the first Drofessional rodeo cowboy to become a professional profession-al artist and sculptor. He is also known in history for designing and making othi: pieces of rodeo equipment including rodeo's first high-cut riding chaps in 1926, which aro now a rodeo standard. Earl Bascom was born 100 years ago in Venial on June 19. He passed away at his Victorville, Calif, ranch in hi,; 90th year in 1995. : S I 1 $ Dramatically successful allergy treatment launched 1 Flo McNeely radiates the health and. energy she shares with clients. cli-ents. A new treatment for allergy relief .is being introduced by Licensed Acupuncturist Flo McNeely in her Timpanogos Wellness Center in Heber City. Unlike the treatments McNeely continues to use for other disorders, dis-orders, this treatment does not involve needles or massage therapy. , "This is a vibrational therapy thera-py treatment. Similar to homeopathy, home-opathy, this modality uses vibrations which are very close in wave length to the allergen aller-gen being treated. It shifts the body's energy ever so slightly so that it no longer responds in a negative way to the allergen," aller-gen," said McNeely. This Legge Method Allergy Elimination Treatment has proven to be highly successful. In the Legge Method, there are 360 different pieces of musical composition based on Chinese tonal scales. Each composition is a discreet vibratory vibra-tory delivery system, a tool intended to neutralize disharmonies dishar-monies and restore health. It is the patient's body that determines deter-mines which precise piece of music is needed. Selections are made for the client with the use of a pendulum or applied kinesiology. kine-siology. The allergen is determined, deter-mined, then the music is chosen cho-sen through the selective process pro-cess before the client is seated in front of audio speakers, in a relaxed position. Following the musical experience, a re-test is made to determine whether the allergen has been neutralized. "Allergens are something we are exposed to over and over again," Flo explained, "and consequently con-sequently by fighting the allergen aller-gen we are constantly weakening weaken-ing our immune system. So by virtue of removing the reaction to the allergen, your immune system' is strengthened. "One treatment is usually sufficient to neutralize an allergen," she continued. "You may have to listen to the musical composition composi-tion more than one time but the second time can be immediately immediate-ly following the re-test for the allergen. Success of the treatment treat-ment can be verified by the pendular or applied kinesiology kinesiolo-gy testing, but is obvious when you are exposed to the allergen in daily life and find it no longer lon-ger affects you. Each allergen is treated in the same way, separated sepa-rated by at least 24 hours, until you are allergy-free." Flo McNeely traveled to Vernal for two years to treat clients with acupuncture and massage therapy. A non-invasive facial acupuncture treatment treat-ment was introduced; for most clients several treatments have a similar effect to surgical surgi-cal face-lifting procedures. It was with regret that Flo ceased the weekly visits because of requests for her time closer to Heber City. She welcomes clients from the Uintah Basin in her Timpanogos Wellness Center, by appointment, for acupuncture, massage therapy or this new unusual treatment for allergy relief. "I was helped so much by the acupuncture treatments for arthritis," commented a local client, "that I was excited to try the allergy relief treatment. We treated for grass allergy, and when I mowed my lawn the following fol-lowing day I had none of the usual symptoms. I really put it to a test, too, because some of the grass was too damp to bag well, and had to be extracted by hand from the vacuum tube. In other spots, it was very dry and I was in the midst of airborne particles. It was truly allergy relief. I plan to have treatments for a few more allergens, and will be delighted when I am free from all of them." Although it is difficult to explain the reason the treatment treat-ment works, it is based on many years of research by Mike Legge, a musician with a Master of Arts Degree in music composition who is a Research Scientist in Health Systems. The Legge Method is the result of many years of research to combine Chinese medical theory with a western music delivery system. Co-founder Nicolette Schwartzman is a Licensed Acupuncturist with a background in homeopathy, energetic medicine, nutrition and biology. Their combined experience and research led to the development of this simple, effective revolutionary treatment treat-ment method. "And the best.ipart." rom-: mented Flo McNeely, "is that you don't have to understand it or even believe it will work. It just does." Make your life easier with the earliest drive-up hours in Vernal.
