Show BJediiBdjJaraiarjajao Vernal Express Watercolors from Utah Fine Arts Collection on display at the Western Heritage Museum On display at the Uintah County Western Heritage Museum, Mu-seum, 328 East 200 South, in Vernal are the works of some 27 artists, including pieces from Ted M. Wassmer, B. F. Larsen, Dean Fausett, Joseph A.F. Everett, Ev-erett, Ruth Wolf Smith, and Michael Mi-chael R. Cannon. These works are on loan from the Utah Arts Council, Traveling Exhibit Program, Pro-gram, for display from Jan. 29 through Feb. 21. Many people enjoy painting in watercolors, devoting their creative energies to the mastery of this art form in their careers. Freshness and light embody this art form. Watercolor mastery mas-tery demands a sureness and spontaneity that are not easily acquired. The luminous brilliance bril-liance of a watercolor painting is enhanced by the granulation of the paper; hollows fill with ?ai 1 amille Jaramillo months, and didn't know why. Dr. Shurtliff was alarmed when he saw Camille and sent her immediately to the Emergency .Room. There an ER nurse immediately placed an IV. Dr. Wallace Salter, ER Physician, ordered some blood tests and found that Camille's blood sugar was 690. Camille had diabetes. This exhibit brings together some of the styles and techniques represented represent-ed in the unique gifts of Utah's watercolorists. All the watercolor watercol-or paintings in this exhibit are from the Utah State Fine Arts Collection dating from the 19th through the 20th century. Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is free but donations are appreciated e explains everything to me. . . The Bar J Wranglers Bar J Wranglers raise $9K for schools By Janine Shannon Express Writer The Uintah Schools Foundation Founda-tion raised $9,000 through the Bar J Wranglers concert held in November. Earlier this month, the foundation awarded $6,500 to schools to fund projects and to purchase books and equipment. equip-ment. Since 1987, the non-profit organization or-ganization has worked to raise funds for things that cannot be paid for out of the regular budget. bud-get. One of the main fund-raisers is the Storytelling Festival held every fall. Last year the event raised $7,000, which will be used to present each school in the district with $650 to $700 worth of books to update their libraries. Three times a year, the foundation votes on proposals submitted by teachers andor schools. Kathlene McKeachnie, executive director, said they try to accept those that will best enhance the education of students. New for the foundation this year is the Amos E. and Evan-na Evan-na Merkley scholarship in the amount of $1,000, which was awarded to Mindy Vincent. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years, and a new recipient from Uintah County will be selected every fall. The application deadline is March 1. Applications are available at Utah State University and Uintah Uin-tah Basin Applied Technology College (UBATC) in Vernal and Roosevelt or from counselors at Uintah High School. The foundation is made up of over 20 nominated board members. mem-bers. These individuals, which include realtors, business owners, own-ers, bankers, doctors and attorneys, at-torneys, serve for three years.
