Show LOCALISMS. REMEMBER that the schools open on Monday. BUILDING contractors in this county have all they can do. SALT LAKE excursionists to Cache have not been very numerous this summer. THESE are lively times for mechanics and workingmen. Scarcely one can be found who is out of work. A THREE-POUND trout was caught on Wednesday morning in the water ditch, near the Logan House. "Davy" REESE is talking of erecting a large structure on his property on 2d street, for a livery stable, &c. MANY prominent brethren throughout the county were in town yesterday, in attendance at the priesthood meeting. REAL estate all over Logan rises rapidly in price, and new buildings are going up in all parts of the town. SMALL POX has been developed north, south and east of us, but not a case has yet been heard of in Cache county. ON Tuesday night a large portion of one of the trees in front of Mr. Goodwin's house on Third Street was blown down by the wind. THE trial of G. M. Conner, alias "Tom" Conner, in the police court yesterday afternoon, was much talked of on the streets before it began. A CITIZEN of Providence complains of thieving depredations on his premises by neighboring boys. If they don't stop such conduct they should be arrested and punished. W. V.? CARRINE?, Esq. [Esquire], P.M., at Clarkston, Cache Co., made us a call yesterday. He is about making an extended business and pleasure trip to the southern portion of the Territory. A CORRESPONDENT in Salt Lake City, in writing of the way in which the JOURNAL is conducted, says, "It pleases me greatly to see that there is at least one newspaper in the Territory which discourages quackery." S.? H. HATCH?, representing the Omaha Bee, made a pleasant call upon us on Wednesday. He informs us that he has been up north with the Omaha Board of Trade. In returning, he stayed over at all the principal towns on his route, with a view in publishing accounts of the points visited, which will prove interesting to the readers of the Bee. |
