Show SHAMEFUL CONDUCT. A few days ago, in Providence, a party of four or five boys, ranging in age from ten to seventeen years, met with a little girl, eight or plus years of age, at some distance from her home, and were guilty of talking to her and behaving towards her in a very rude and indecent manner. The little girl ran home crying. Subsequently the same party of boys met with the little girl's mother, and were rude and vulgar in their language and conduct towards her. The conduct of the boys was made known to their parents, who were greatly grieved and mortified at it, and but for their efforts, the matter would have been investigated in a justice's court. We understand efforts are being made to induce the guilty boys to make what reparation lies in their power for their behavior. If such offenders will make restitution as far as they can, it is better to settle such affairs outside of the courts, but such offenders should be promptly and vigorously dealt with by the law unless they make what reparation they can for their offense. |
