Mrs. Telintha Rasnussen Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Knight and sons, Ronald and Steven, from Kirksville, Miss., are here visiting her mother, Hilda Arnold, for a few days, then on to Mammath, Arizona to visit Dr. Knight's family before returning home, where Dr. Knight will go to summer school. Last Friday night the Aaronic Priesthood boys and girls of corresponding ages had a dinner at North Ballard church. Lamond Tullis of Vernal was the guest speaker. This affair was to commemorate the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. The next day the same group of youth met at the Jim Donald's home on Indian Bench and did a service project of preparing his garden for planting. Mr. Donald had the misfortune of breaking his foot recently. Terry Lundberg was home from Cedar City for the weekend. He is a student at Southern Utah State College. A reception will be held at the Tridell chapel in the evening of the 24th of May for Mr. and Mrs. Mike McKee, who were married in the LDS Temple May 20th. Mrs. McKee was the former Karen Emerson. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marett of Price were here visiting at the Karl Shisler home over the weekend. Michael, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Sybil Cook, who is attending the at Provo, was home last week with her family. Mr. and Mrs. Jr. Betts, received word from their son Edward, who is serving an LDS mission, and is in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, that he has been made District leader. David, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Gelvin, graduated from primary and will he ordained to the office of a Deacon in the LDS church, when his father returns from Washington D. C. hand Collins Steven got his accidentally broken at school when he was hit by a boy. He will have it in a cast for awhile. SENIOR CITIZENS dinner held, plans made The Senior citizen dinner and program, sponsored by Community Education was held Monday of this week in the lunch room at Roosevelt Junior high school. Some 63 ' citizens from around the Roosevelt area were present to enjoy the lunch and a program, furnished by the Junior high school which consisted of a song, dance and reading. Mrs. Lou Russell, Regional representative of the Stale division of the aging addressed the assembly and Dr. Isreal Heaton, professor at BYU was a guest speaker. The Virginia Whitney Detection Clinic was under the direction of Dorothy Peterson, RN, medical director of the clinic. Mrs. Peterson was accompanied from Salt Lake City by Owen Rouse, Director of the Northern Area of the Utah Division. Charles Edwards, MD, a cancer specialist and two medical interns. In addition, Drs. Terry Buxton, Frank Madsen, and Gary White of Roosevelt donated their time, assisted by nurses Grom the Roosevelt Medical Clinic and other nurses and lay people recruited from the area. These people donated their time free of charge for the clinic. Mrs. Carole White, chairman of the East Duchesne Unit of the American Cancer Society extends her thanks to other volunteers who helped with registration, directing traffic showing of films and other displays. Upholstery class scheduled Community education will sponsor an upholstery class beginning Tuesday, June 3, and continuing for eight weeks. There will be a class tuition of $30.00. The class will be held Tuesday's and Wednesday's from 0 p.m. at Roosevelt Elementary school. Instructor for the course will be Veda Townsend. The rules for entrance in this year's Miss UBIC contest were annual announced this week by Mrs. Donald G. Mantyla, pageant chairman. The pageant is to be held on J uly 19, at the Union high school auditorium. Entries are governed by local, state and national Miss America pageant rules. To enter a girl must be a resident of the Uintah Basin for the past six, (this rule is only waived for a contestant, whose residence is out of the city or state, but who is a college or university student in territory where pageant is held and at time the pageant is held.) She must be single, and never have been married, or. had a marriage annulled. Her age of Labor Day or the National competition (Miss America 1976) shall not be less than eighteen nor more than twenty-eigh- t years. The girl selected Miss UBIC shall poise, personality, possess talent, intelligence, charm and beauty of face and figure. She must possess and display in a maximum of three minutes a talent presentation. This may be either amature or professional.
