Show 4 STANDARD Jonuory Jan. meeting The regular meeting of the Roosevelt Business and Professional Womens Club convened Jan. 14 at Bottle Hollow Res- taurant. Seventeen club members and guests braved a January snowstorm to hear the Public Relations program presented by Mrs. Newell (Marion) Behunin, from the Vernal City Mayor's Office and Deseret News coorespondent; Mrs. Willard (Loya) Gardner, Manager of the Bottle Hollow Restaurant; and Maxine Natc-hees- . Public Relations Officer for the Ute Tribe. Club president Mrs. Jasper (Irene) Cuch conducted the business meeting which included musical entertainment by Jack Christensen of Vernal. Mrs. Cuch also recognized Mrs. Behunin's citations for outstanding contributions to her community. Peggy Virden, March of Dimes representative for Duchesne County, gave a brief explanation of the charity drive for 1974. The club voted to make a pledge to this year's March of Dimes Telerama. The Roosevelt B.P.W. Club members will also help collect advance pledges from local merchants. In the campaign for additional members, two names were presented and accepted for membership into the women's club. Nancy Olpin and Leona Hagman will be installed at the February meeting. Vernal's Employee of the month, Mrs. Howard ( Janell) Gardner was introduced during the meeting. Mrs. Garnder is employed by Ashton Brothers' ready-to-wedepartment and was selected by public vote. The business meeting also included the announcement of the State BPW Board meeting scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Ramada Inn in Salt Lake City. mid-wint- Altrus Club The Altrus club met at the home of Dora Curry this past week. Bill Lewis, from the Duchesne County School District office gave two book reviews, "Chariot of the Gods, and Gods from Outer Space. The next meeting will be held February 4, at the home of Ruth Allen, with a special musical program by Judy 722-213- 1 Mr. and Mrs. Nate Fillingim, Roosevelt, have received word, they are the grandparents of a baby girl, born to Sargeant and Mrs. Mike Cupp, Torregan Air Base, Spain. The little miss weighed 7 lbs. 9 ozs., and was named April Michelle. Pat is the daugher of the Filligim's and a graduate of Union high. Mike is from Salem, Ore. The Fillingims have eleven other grandchildren. Mrs. Ray Cavanaugh returned home recently from Port Colberne Ontario Canada where she visited with her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Huffman. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Stewart, Mrs. Minnie Morrill and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Abegglen, Vernal, returned home last weekend from a months vacation. They toured the southern states to Florida and also down to Mexico. They visited interesting places in Mexico City and Vera Cruz. They visited the Pyramid and ruins in Mexicou Lynn Labrum, Charles Jenkins and David Labrum were Salt Lake visitors Tuesday where they attended a Ford Motor Co. Meeting. Spending the weekend in Roosevelt with her parents was Kim Gale, who is employed in Provo. Meridith Mantvla, BYU and Donald, who is attending u of U spent the weekend with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gentry and Mrs. Frank Brock went to Price Saturday to attend an OES meeting for the Grand Leatures at the Naomi Chapter Thirteen. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sobotka, American Fork were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. McNeil Duncan. Mrs. Mable Allred returned home last week after spending a month in North Salt Lake with her daughter Mrs. Lola Sessions. Mrs. Session, Gene Session and Daughter Amy brought her home. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bellon and Mrs. Alden Alexander went to Salt Lake Tuesday to visit with Aldon who is in the Veterans hospital. Mrs. Elmer Eldredge and Burke made a business trip to Salt Lake the fore part of the week. Socialette Club meets at Draper home Members of Socialette club me&t the home of Mrs. Ralph Draper for an informal evening of hand-worvisiting, and planning future meetings and projects. were Mrs. Duane Richens and Mrs. Bryce Green. The club's next meeting will be February 14, for the annual mother, daughter Valentine's party. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Alexander went to Provo Saturday to witness the temple marriage of their nephew, Mark Einerson and Shauna Adamson. They also attended a reception for the newlyweds at the Bunn low in Pleasant Grove the same evening. Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Einerson. e Weekend guests at the Floyd Labrum residence were Mrs. Dorothy Casto, Salt Lake and Mrs. Flora Wilson, Lehi, the ladies are Mrs. Labrum's sisters. DUP enjoy Jan. luncheon deposited Camp, Duchesne, met Thursday afternoon, January 24, for a dessert luncheon, with Mrs. Myrtis Buckalew hostess. With fifteen members present, Mrs. Thelda Halstead gave the program about Parley P. Pratt. 500 hold gala affair Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Day, Duchesne hosted a 500 party Saturday evening, January 26 with sixteen present Ladies winning prizes were Mrs. Vinda Merkley and Mrs. Alton Bromley. Prizes were also given to two men winners. A dessert was served to the four tables of players. Spades Hi Bridge c ub meets Mrs. Robert Huish entertained Spade's Hi bridge club at her home. Mrs. Margaret Miller was a guest A dessert luncheon was served and bridge was played during the evening. Prizes were won by Mrs. Alyce Fenn and Mrs. Frank Yack. P.T.A. officers deposit funds in Zions bank Monday, officers of the Roosevelt Elementary PTA, deposited a check in the amount of $1,000.00, in the Zions First National Bank in Roosevelt. The money is funds raised from the sale of a fat lamb which was donated by the bank, and other money raising activities. The PTA has been raising money to purchase playground equipment for the school, as its needed, and other projects. Some of the funds are from the annual spring carnival, held each year at Your Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, February 2, at the Roosevelt Junior High School in Roosevelt, Utah at 1:30 P.M. Meringue Bread Pudding 2 cups fine dry bread crumbs 3 cups scalded milk V cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 whole egg, plus 2 egg yolks slightly beaten. Nutmeg Jelly (currant) Place the breadcrumbs, in a quart ungreased baking dish. Blend in the remaining ingredients. Sprinkle with nutmeg, place baking dish in a pan of hot water (1 inch deep), bake one hour at 350 degrees or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and spoon a thin layer of currant jelly over the pudding and cover with meringue made of egg whites and 'A cup of sugar. Place in oven to brown, remove and serve. l'i Apple Bread 1 cup sugar cup shortening 2 eggs 1 cup ground apples Vt 1 tsp. salt tsp. soda cup chopped nuts 2 cup flour cup buttermilk or milk 1 tsp. vanilla 3 tablespoons sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Cream sugar, shortening, add eggs, apples, sifted dry ingredients, with nuts added. Stir in milk and vanilla. Pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over top. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour. 1 Monday night bridge club met Jan. 21 Mrs. Lawrence Yack hosted the new Monday night bridge club at her home Jan. 21. Guests were Mrs. Vona Houtz and Mrs. Marion Felter. A dessert luncheon was served followed by bridge.
