There was a time, not so long ago, that the East end was considered to be entitled to a representatives in the City Council, but times have changed and judging from the recent action of the council, they are not now entitled to it, neither are they entitled to a representative on the police force. If the Honorable City fathers can show us any good reason why three remaining police offiicers should all be from their end of the city, we will be willing to abide by their decision, but when it is taken into consideration that the sheriff and his deputy both reside down there, which makes five offiicers, we are unable to see any justice in the action taken by the coun cil, in discharging the only representative of the law this end of the town had. It appears as though they certainly feel that the police protection is surely needed down there. When it comes to the matter of declaring the office held by Aider-m- an Wort man vacant, we feel that the council certainly exceeded its authority, as Wort man was away simply looking for a location where he might earn a living durin Tooele.
