gilbert bol inder of this city and the four grand child of mr and mrs silas crim of telluride Tel lunde colorado ohp sh is the tenth great grandchild of mrs josephine bates of salt lake city mrs phebe swenson and grand daughter barbara from pomona california are visiting at the home of her father leonard hale mrs reed johanson entertained her club last thursday evening at her home games were played and prizes went to mrs ray geltmach Geld mach er and mrs noel callister A love ly luncheon was served to the fol lowing guests at the close of the evening mrs joe edde mrs garth edde mrs noel callister mrs fern lisenbee mrs blame blaine sutton mrs ray geldmacher and the hostess mr and mrs lyie lyle eldredge and baby daughter barbara returned td tol their home in mancus colo rado after spending a few days in grantsville Grants ville visiting their many fri fn ends and relatives they were ac companied on the return trip by mrs annie millward and mary millward who will spend a few days with them in mancus mrs eldredge will be remembered by her many friends as clara boyd brown returned wednesday from mcgill neam nevada where he has been visiting with his mother mrs ross bell mrs eva millward has returned home after a short visit in salt lake with members of her family at 3 30 a in tuesday the town was rudely awakened to the tune of the wailing siren As near as they could figure it had been blow ing for quite some time the volunteer firemen immedi abely crawled out of bed and head ed for the city hall throwing on their clothes as they went they manned the truck and took off to aid the people in distress the fire was at the barn of geo clarke which is three or four miles north of the city and it had a pret ty good start the firemen went right to work and it wasn gasn t long before the fire was out but the building was burned nearly to the ground five little pigs were res cued but the damage amounted to close to tuesday evening a new type of fog equipment was demon started by the universal safety equip ment for the firemen so that they could keep up on the latest de vices that are being manufactured to hake fire fighting easier tom millward says there are not enough floats in the parade yet now don t you folks just wait un til the last minute to start on yours all you merchants should get yourself a float in this par ade because it is good advertising for your business put your kids in the miniature section they get a real kick out of being in the parade all church organizations are urged to put a float in this parade it is going to start at the second ward church and as I 1 told you last week traffic is go ing to be routed off main street during the time the parade is go ing on there is talk of putting up a number of girls for a queen to reign over the days activities but hat that t been decided yet I 1 think it is a good idea personally so if there are any more people who agree with me let those vol gunteer firemen know so that they can get the queen and her attend ants selected the main thing they want you people 1 to do though is to get into hat that parade because they certain ly dont want the cups and the prize arize money to go to waste the program is going on just about like it was printed last week and should give you townspeople something to do all during the day so remember the volunteer fire department are expecting Grants ville second ward held their annual reunion on tues day june 22 in the second ward chapel and recreation hall the program which began at 7 30 on tuesday evening was pre dented by members of the ward in the chapel the ward was well rep resented and everyone enjoyed the program very much following the program the crowd went down to the reccea tion ion hall for refreshments and a little dancing and visiting the kids got their share of the reunion in the afternoon when hey they came to see the picture show mary alice knowlton is v visiting 1 sl ting at the home of her parents parent s mr and mrs frank knowlton stake quarterly conference was held sunday in the grantsville Grants ville 2nd ward chapel with brother lawrence of the welfare committee and bishop joseph thlin of the pre siding bishopric in attendance at all sessions of the conference music for the conference was furnished by the youth choir of the stake changes in the stake eions are as follows larue worth ington is stake sunday school sec see detary replacing pauline hawker beatrice arbon is baptismal advis or for the genealogical committee and lenore johnson is chairman of the girls the evening meeting was under the diree direction tion of the stake bee hive committee mrs evva gardiner was in direct charge of the pro gram she told about bee hive work and the things which the girls work for she then had bee hive girls of the stake present each phase which they worked in and a few of the requirements necessary to gain their cells announcement was made of the fact that the first golden gleaner award has been presented in the stake this award was presented to elsie green several weeks ago at stake leadership meeting and climaxes several years of hard work on her part this award is the highest honor that a gleasner Gl earner girl of the church can obtain and should be an in for other girls in the stake to want to obtain the same award royce green of west jordan visited friends and relatives in grantsville Grants ville over the weekend deloy fawson is home on a short furlough from the navy mr and mrs gene L jones and son brent and gloria green left for wendover friday evening they plan to spend the rest of the sum mer there those from grantsville Grants ville who at tended the johnson reunion at newdale idaho for three days were mr and mrs kenneth john son bon and family mr and mrs me
