Other Opinions: 2,684 "Average Joes" give "Cow-boys & Aliens" a rating of 6.9 out of 10 while 147 pro-fessional film critics give the film an average score of 44 percent out of 100 percent. Should you see it? It's hard to pass a concept like this by, but I suggest a week-end at home with films like E.T. and True Grit instead. "Cowboys & Aliens" Casual Critic Score: 6.5 out of 10 Release Date: July 29, 2011 Rating: PG-1- 3 Length: 1 18 minutes Genre: Action, Sci-F- i, Thriller When Jon Favreau, Ste-ven Spielberg, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard get together to direct and produce a film starring Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, you expect the end result to be awesome. But the problem with high expec-tations is that too often they just leave you disappointed. Such is the case in this west meets space big-budg- et sum-mer movie. The actors all do their part just fine: Craig as a cool lone outlaw and Ford as the iron-fiste- d gruff cattle boss of the town, but unfortu-nately they represent charac-ters in a film without much of a story. The deeper the plot gets, the more absurd it be-comes. Yet there's still plenty of fun to be had along the way and the overall film is a sat-isfying entertainment experi-ence. I just wish "Cowboys & Aliens" wouldn't have taken itself so seriously. Content: Rated PG-1- 3 for violence and gore. Although ' ,. J 1 " t ,v ,; ... ! v''-- , ... ( - : ', . . The ride, now in its twelfth year, takes about three hours, starting and ending at the trail-hea- d to Dry Canyon. This popular trail connects the Great Western Trail with the Bonnev-ille Shoreline, which is actively being established by Lindon and Pleasant Grove cities. It will eventually stretch from the Idaho border to Nephi, com-prised of more than 280 miles of trail. The Great Western Trail system traverses 4,455 miles through Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and 1,600 miles in Utah . The early morning ride was enjoyed by 12 men, women and kids astride their horses and left the parking lot around 7:30 a.m. for the trip that took them into Provo Canyon along the Bonneville Shoreline over-looking the valley and back to Dry Canyon. In the evening a chuck wag-on dinner, provided by Magle-by'- s, was enjoyed by more than 60 residents. During din-ner, which was situated about 15 yards up the hill from the parking lot, the audience was treated to some great country cowboy music by two mem-bers of the band Highway 40. John Mendenhall, a former Lindon resident, recited cow-boy poetry he began memoriz-ing as a child. His rendition of Waddie Mitchell's "Story with a Moral" was dedicated to a friend who quit eating so he would tell it. (Google it, just for fun) "Pert' Near Perkins" was also a favorite poem he performed. Those who sup-ported this event were well-pai- d for their efforts .ii i in. M ni ii.ju.u.. p.... i.
