Show I -.f ' AH-1 LaVar Shu m way Lavar Shuniway Services Held Here Tuesday Services were held in the Moab LDS Chapel Tuesday at 1 p.m. for LaVar Shumway, 52, who died at the Allen Memorial Me-morial hospital Saturday, Oct. 19, after a long illness. Mr. Shumway was born in Moab on June 4, 1916, the sou of Pete and Hattie Dallon Shumway. His father preceded preced-ed him in death only recently. recent-ly. He enlisted in the U. , S. Navy in 1941 and served until un-til 1945. He was married to Nellie Vail in 1915. They were later divorced. Two children survive sur-vive the marriage: Verne Shumway and Mrs. Dan (Sherry) Shoupe. He was again married in 1961 to Frankie Wilkerson. Four children were born to this union: Lee and Paul Shumway, and twins, Tammy and Theresa. LaVar Dallon Shumway is survived, in addition to the above-mentioned children, by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Hattie Shumway of Moab; brothers, Ray, Larry and Bob of Moab; sisters, Mrs. Matt (Cleo) Helmann, Mrs. Bill (Joan) Harrison, Mrs. Shirley Shir-ley Tate, all of Moab; Mrs. Donna Mae Hunphries of Redding, Calif.; one grandson. grand-son. Burial was in the Sunspt Memorial Cemetery, under direction of the Grand Valley Val-ley Mortuary. |
